- RC workshops, with our partner Academy of Model Aeronautics
- Nitro fuel helicopter demos courtesy of SVP Fuels
- Electric helicopter demos courtesy of Horizon Hobby
- A model plane Make N Take from Academy of Model Aeronautics
- A paper airplane Make N Take with Usborne Books.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV’s), commonly called drones have been flooding the market for the past few years. They offer many exciting possibilities from aerial photography, videography, and drone racing.
Come to the Rocky Mountain Hobby-Expo and fly a drone, check out hands-on demos and workshops, and see the latest drone products. From three blade nanos to FPV (First Person View) quads, it’s all here!
There will be vendors and manufacturers for your drone shopping needs. Also, learn about FAA regulations from the Academy of Model Aeronautics and FAA Part 107 Requirements.
Model rocketry was developed during the “space race” era in response to rocket enthusiasts constructing their own rockets out of more dangerous materials and propellants. Today, model rocket kits and motors can be purchased in almost every hobby shop and toy store. Kits are designed for all ages and all levels of challenge, from simple starter kits to complicated scale models. Learn about aerodynamics, responsibility, and rocket safety while experiencing the rush of a successful launch of your very own rocket. Visit the NAR website to learn more about rocketry and find local clubs in your area.
At the Rocky Mountain Hobby-Expo we’ll have a rocketry workshop as well as a Rocket Make N Take which will help you build your first rocket and give you a certificate towards a free motor and ignitor at a local scheduled launch. The Make and Take requires a $5 material fee and a parent to be present during the class. Space is limited, so sign up early at the show. These offerings are brought to us from our friends at HobbyTown Alamosa, Colorado’s Rocketry Specialists.
