A Rocky Mountain Railroad Prototype Modelers (RPM) Meet will take place as a part of the Rock Mountain Hobby-Expo October 11th -13th, 2019. The goal of this event is to share prototype information and research, discuss modeling techniques, learn to operate prototypically, and grow in the fellowship of like-minded modelers.
Why RPM in Denver?
Denver is an ideal location to host an RPM meet for many reasons. First and foremost, the front range area is home to many talented model builders, including the members of the Front Range Division of the Rocky Mountain Region NMRA. The front range area hosts a dozen model railroad clubs in all scales. The geographic area has seen operations of a large variety of railroads, including Denver and Rio Grande, Union Pacific, Santa Fe, Burlington, Colorado and Southern, Denver and Salt Lake, Rock Island, Missouri Pacific and numerous narrow gauge lines. From Pueblo, Colorado to Cheyenne, Wyoming you can visit seven museums with interests in rail transportation, including the nationally renown Colorado Railroad Museum and Colorado Model Railroad Museum. Where else can you see THREE Union Pacific Big Boys in a day! Colorado has nine operating tourist railroads and access to Amtrak travel from many Midwest and Western cities- Take the Train to Rocky Mountain RPM! The area is also home to San Juan Model Company and Intermountain Railway as well as the iconic Caboose model railroad store, which is always worth a visit.
